John is a Conservation Biologist who has worked for WWF for 25+ years, assisting projects and programs
worldwide with spatial and strategic planning in marine, freshwater, and terrestrial ecosystems. The bulk of his work has been using the Conservation Standards to help experts be clear about what they intend to conserve, what the issues are, and what the clear logic is to remedy those issues. John is also the Global Coordinator for the Conservation Coaches Network, which trains and supports Conservation Standards facilitators. John has a BS in Geology from Emory University, a MS in Hydrology from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in Ecology from the University of California, Davis. In a previous life, John was a geologist and hydrologist, but his passion for fish- and birdwatching eventually convinced him that he needed to be involved in finding solutions to conservation problems. He has a passion for natural history, wilderness backpacking in Alaska, and long-distance cycling.
