The majority of MBN’s survey sites have been found and recommended by volunteers, and there are likely many more to be discovered! If you have a site that you would like to recommend for us to consider for survey, please fill out the form below.
Important items to note:
- We will not consider sites that are considerably dangerous, such as with poor sightlines and high speed limits.
- To reduce bias in our sampling, we may add a “control” site to each location suggested. These controls will help us determine the influences for what makes sites with high amphibian numbers, high mortality rates, etc.
- We get dozens to hundreds of new site requests per year. To make this work more sustainable, we only register new sites outside of the survey season (March 15 – May 15). We highly encourage volunteers to help fill in gaps by surveying pre-existing sites in the meantime.
- Our site size is standardized at 0.3km (about 1000ft). If the site you are proposing is greater in size, we may need to create multiple sites.
- Discovering a site does not guarantee the ability to adopt and survey it. Our site adoption system is on a first-come, first-serve basis and we do not have the capacity to track ownership of hundreds of sites where volunteers drop in or out.
